Learning Resources Centre, University of Hertfordshire

ACP's design for a New Learning Resources Centre at the Hatfield Campus of  University of Hertforshire occupies a 90 x 40m footprint and consolidates all the University's Library and IT facilities under one roof. The 11,750m² 'information hothouse' is accessed by 16,000 students, incorporates 700 study places, up to 1,400 computer areas, and central exhibition space.

Four levels are arranged around an oblong atrium containing a glazed lantern light in the barrel-vaulted roof to allow daylight into the building. The simplicity of the design, use of standardised modular components and a displacement ventilation system creates a robust and modern environment. more..........
